| | | Welcome to the Avon Federation, formed in 1975 at a time when across Britain, local government bodies were undergoing change. When a reversal in that decision came about in the 1990s Avon Federation remained unchanged. Avon is based in and around the cities of Bath and Bristol taking in parts of Gloucestershire and Somerset with an office in the town of Keynsham.

The Federation is bordered by the river Severn, the foothills of the Cotswolds, Wiltshire, the Mendip hills and the Somerset coastline of the Bristol Channel. The river Avon, the M4 and the M5 all traverse the land, the latter giving access to many parts of the country.
Our membership of almost 3850 is as diverse as our landscape with the 111 WIs in the cities, towns and villages within its boarders. Due to the composition of the Federation when it was formed we have WIs celebrating over 90 years of life and others opening up at the present time, ensuring that the WI is as relevant to women today as it has always been. Members take part in many and various activities; give their time and talents to enhancing their local community, making friends and having fun along the way. Many have learned new skills in crafts, dance, sport, drama, public speaking, the arts and have travelled far beyond their expectations.
